Rigging My Own Character

Today was the start of my journey on bringing my character to life. I was very nervous about starting the whole rigging process because I knew that I would encounter some problems, however I did enjoy making the practice model so I am hoping I enjoy this equally as much and learn even more now that I am on my own.

I started with making the 'skeleton'. This was a very familiar process and because it was only the beginning, I found the steps to be clean and tidy and I was able to do them easily.
I did however, have to resize my joint sizes to very small ones (0.2). I am slightly worried that this will have some impact further on in the process, so I will have to do some research or ask Mat if this is okay. But for now I am sticking with it. I have also challenged myself by having 5 fingers instead of 3, so this is more problems to face in terms of rigging each finger, but nevertheless I am more than willing to give it a try.
This is my skeleton, once all the joints were named correctly and then mirrored. I think it looks very reasonable and workable, so I am encouraged to keep going on. I hope the skeleton legs are not too close together, even if they are I am sure that I can paint the weights later on in the process to eliminate any unreasonable influences.
And here is the skeleton in comparison to the mesh. They both match up which is great, so I will be asking Hayley and Mat for feedback to see if I actually am following in the right direction or not.
