After adding the toe tap, heel peel, stand toe and toe twist attributes, I decided to do some more painting weights in order to get my boots to look right. They were very awkward for me to fix because of their shape but I kept smoothing them so that when they bend they won't be as harsh looking.
And in the end I got there. I feel like her feet move in such a way that I could actually complete a walk cycle now, which means I am one step closer to animating her! I just have to wait for Hayley and then we can start on our narrative and start thinking about composition and camera placement.
I also came across a problem when I bent/moved her legs in any way. What had happened was that there wasn't enough influence on the back of her leg so it would concave and fold inwards to the nearest vertices. Once I painted it with the opaque brush tool, this seemed to do the trick which I was thankful for because I thought that I had forgotten to join a vertice together at some point.
And this is a turnaround of her in the t-pose through a quick playbast, before I posed her and made some props! I am really happy with my character, especially as this is my first time creating a character in Maya. I feel like I have developed the substantial skills to make more models in the future, and I have surprised myself with how much I have enjoyed the whole process!
