Responsive: Penguin How to be a Woman Product Proposal

The problems I aim to solve are...

1) An initial problem for me is that I don't read non-fiction as often as I do fiction, so it will be harder for me to visualise the content in a cover because the creation inside the book is based off real events and is not made up!

2) Another problem I aim to solve is making the designs 'exist within popular culture'. This is a unique requirement but considering popular culture is everywhere, it should not be too hard for me to do.

3) The last problem I aim to solve for this cover is making is humorous. I have never really had a go at making a design with comical undertones so this will again be hard for me to take on as it is unfamiliar, but it should also be enjoyable at the same time.

I am to solve this via...

1) To solve this, I am going to have to do a lot of brainstorming. I am going to have to consider what other people say about the book, and turn that into a charming illustration in combination with the synopsis.

2) Perhaps involving technology or the celebrity persona is one way to go about this.

3) To solve this I might play on stereotypes, especially as women are becoming more empowered in 'popular culture'.

I will be aiming to communicate the ideas/themes/moods of...

1) Empowerment. The book is targeted at women after all.

2) Sophistication. After researching Caitlin Moran herself, I found she is very sophisticated and writes extremely well, I want to convey this in my designs.

3) Humour. Caitlin is hilarious, I have read some of her articles and she is extremely witty. The brief also states that the book to be designed needs to have some comedy within it.

To an audience of...

1) WOMEN. As they will be able to relate to the topics within the book. (relatable reading material!).

2) Anyone up for a humorous book. Some people like written comedy, but some don't. I am targeting those who do!

3) Young women who are finding themselves. This book is also very empowering and will give women confidence, I am going to target them!
