DIY Character Turntable

For the last task of making our DIY character model, we were to pose him, give him some props and then make a turntable of him. Since Hayley and I's animation is carnival themed, I thought it would be a good idea to make him a magician as I could give him an really interesting costume as well as some props to match! (As well as linking in with our project).

Making the shirt and waistcoat was a bit more complicated as I found it slightly hard to tell where to put the collar and the buttons because the mesh is rounded, however I did have a go at it, and once i imported it into Maya it ended up looking rather well with some spotlights.
However when I went to render my scene, I forgot that I had used black as a key colour, and my character ended up disappearing into the background. I did love his black pants, top hat and stick but because I was sticking to a simple background, I ended up going back into Photoshop and changing these to a lighter grey sort of colour.
Like so. I also added some brightness to the red suit so that it would emit some more detail as I was getting bored of the same flat colours.
I then had a go at making a unicycle, and I loved it! I think it turned out really well for a beginner in Maya! I have realised from making various objects and our environment for our animation, that I really enjoy making things in Maya, and I am starting to challenge myself more and more. I could actually spend all day in Maya just making certain objects because I enjoy it so much and find the results really satisfying!
However when I went to render my character on the unicycle once i had positioned him, his eyes kept moving to the centre of the axis, even though in perspective mode he had them in position? I ended up centring the pivots for the eyes and the eye brows and in the end this did the trick!
And this is my final turnaround! I am quite proud of how I made him, and I hope my own character will turn out well also!
