Next I got to work on the leg(s) of my new model and this was a lot of fun though at times, very frustrating. This was mainly due to the 'topography/mesh terrain' of my model. Though it did look great in the side and front previews, when I went into my global area, sometimes the legs looked a little 'off', for example the side of the leg would look much more flat than it should do. Therefore I had to do a lot of tweaking myself just by eye in order to get it how I wanted. But after a lot of extruding and tweaking, I think it is starting to look even more realistic than before!
This meant that I could start working on the arms of my model. This was fairly straight forward in the beginning, however I did something new here and used the 'insert edge loop tool' but gave the exact number of loops I wanted, so in this case, three. Once I had done that it was a case of sliding the edges to their correct positions, and quickly enough, I had the majority of my arm done.
However on the reference photo, the mesh of the arms didn't just go straight across, I had to rotate them so that they would be able to move once I start rigging my character. Therefore I selected the further four loops to the right, and then went into the settings and chose a specific amount that I wanted to rotate. I kept adding one on to the previous loop, so for example the second loop I rotated it twice, and the third loop, three times, ect. Until my arm looked like this:
In the side preview, my arm looks extremely complex, but once I aligned everything up, it looked exactly like Matt's which I was really pleased about!
This is what the arm looks like on smooth preview, and this is what I have achieved so far:
Overall I think I have progressed A LOT from the last session. I have almost made half of my models body! This is something I didn't think I would achieve smoothly, and although it is a challenge, I am really enjoying it.
