Another amazing potential for 3D modelling that is already occurring is 'Invisilign'. This is where orthodontists take an x-ray of your teeth and then are able to instantly made a 3D model on a computer with it, take that model and move the teeth individually right next to you so that you can see them developing that model into one where the teeth are aligned and straight. They then use this perfect model and your teeth 'goal' and will use 3D printing to print out a series of plastic trays that you will place in your mouth every month, starting with your current alignment of teeth up until you get the desired appearance.
This is all done on a computer through 3D modelling, as the dentists are actually printing out the trays that your teeth will fit into, from the computer generated model. This is such a genius idea, and has the ability to change a persons life with new confidence and without the hassle of braces. You also get to keep the video that they animate of your teeth moving, and they also use them for references, and future ideas on how to improve their softwares. This astonishing technology comes at a price however, and if you want to get this done, it costs at least £2,000, so not so easily attainable. But it is an amazing idea and makes you think about all the other amazing things that will be possible with 3D technology in the future!
