Circus Research - Madagascar 3

Another animation I looked at for circus inspiration was Madagascar 3, and this particular scene gave me a lot of inspiration for a night time themed animation, as well as lots of objects that Hayley and I could include in our environment.

The colour palette of this animation is vivid, but has darker tones, because it is set at night. I think this is a lot more satisfying to look at because it is not very 'in your face' like carnivals actually are along with their loud music. Therefore I will definitely be referring back to this film when I come to applying colour to my UV maps! Our animation is only one minute long and I want it to be enjoyable, not overbearing, oversaturated and overdone.

I also am going to take inspiration through the lighting applied in this video. The lights are much brighter and 'realistic' in contrast to the dark sky which I like because we would not really be able to see our lights if our animation is set in the day! I had not thought about this previously, but I am so glad that I noticed it now because I think out environment could be more effective and allow our audience to live vicariously through it, if we set our scene in a likewise situation.

Overall despite how unlikely I was to take influence from this film, I feel like the animators got the scenery perfect, especially to emphasise how flamboyant and expressive their characters are, therefore I have taken a lot of influence from them and I hope I can apply that to Hayley and I's very own animation!
