I chose this next sound because it sounded familiar to me, like bubbles popping which was something different than the other 4. HOWEVER... even though this was the most familiar sound, I found this was the most difficult to put on paper. I didn't even know how to draw a bubble!
I started off with some acrylic paint and I honestly didn't know where to start with sound so I started with something rather bright and loud, but also simple. I took the back of a marker I had and dipped it in acrylic and pressed hard on the paper so that it would look like this. This was a bit of a stretch in terms of it embodying this audio clip but I was really stuck for ideas, and as an individual piece I think it look aesthetically pleasing. Maybe if I used blue or green then perhaps I would have captured the essence of 'bubbles popping' better.
I then moved on to water colour and had a bit more of a clearer idea of how i wanted this piece to turn out. I used a larger paint brush this time and sed the tips of it to try and create this effect of underwater bubbles. I love the illusion of this piece and I would like to go onto animate it. It might be hard to bob bubbles of such a small scale, but I might still try and see how it works.
Using the same water colours I thought to actually try and 'paint' bubbles. I did this rather quickly because I wanted it to look abstract, but I still wasn't happy with the results.
I then went back to acrylic since the colour payoff was a lot more to my taste, and played around with colours. I LOVE these pieces. These are some of my favourite. They are really simple, have amazing colour payoff, and could be animated in anyway possible. I think after I had experimented with these, I was a lot more confident to venture with something else.
I then moved to digital since I did want to animate this way and tried some other forms of abstract bubbles. I'm not sure about the colours here, but I do like the effects. This was completely experimental and not my style of art at all, but I do think they could potentially be interesting to animate.
And finally I tried to make the bubbles neon and adapt all three of the digital pieces together. Though this did not work I love the potential my digital version have. They are very extreme and versatile which I think could come in handy, but also I like the dimension they have which I have not got in the pieces I painted.
