The next sound was 013, and the reason why this stood out to me so much was because although it is repetitive, I think it could involve some geometric shapes which could bounce, grow larger, get smaller, have so much colour, there was so much to it.
I obviously started off with drawing the scale which measures a heart rate because it was the first thing that popped into my head once I heard the sound. I know you're not supposed to go with the first thing that pops into your head and this is probably why; because it is the first thing that pops into everyone else's head as well.
I then thought, because the sound has some sort of vibration/echo to it, I would try and blur my first experimentation and see if that would look any better. I really like how it looks however because I know it is a distorted blur of the measuring of a heart rate, doesn't mean anyone else will. It just looks like a bunch of blurry lines and i'm not sure would like to animate it.
I then decided to go a different route using my fine liner. It looks like some sort of graph/sound wave but very fine, and could be repeated further to make some sort of animation.
I then went into Photoshop and experimented with the piece further. I tried to make an even further development on a graph/sound wave and quite like the look of it. However when I first her the audio, I wanted lots of colour, so perhaps it isn't the best portrayal of the sound.
SO, I switched to watercolour. I tried to do more of the vibration/echo type abstract brush strokes because that how I feel the sound would look. I chose blue because the sound possibly has a sci-fi atmosphere to it, although having just one colour was a bit boring for me.
So I then turned to acrylic to see what kind of colour palette I wanted to go for, taking into consideration the 'sci-fi' feel. I own only a few neon paints, but I thought I would experiment with them here to see if they would work well or not. I really like the neon green and I think it would work well in a gradient digitally, to illustrate the sound.
I then tried again with blue and also really liked it combines with the neon green. Therefore from these colour experimentation I definitely think I will be using gradients in my animation.
I also tried adding a bit of pink and peach in to see if I could add these to the mix next to the green and blue and they seem to contrast rather well. I have used gradients a lot however I wanted to see a visual piece in terms of whether it illustrated the sound well or not.
Just to see if using green blue and red would work then, I did a quick digital painting using these three colours and then turning them into a gradient. I feel like I could animate this piece quite a lot since I could use the colour as the primary focus and then also have a very smooth movement in some sort of wave like pattern. I think this would a nice direction to go in, so I will definitely be considering it.
These next two pieces were completely experimental, I drew some lines and then blurred them, overlapped them, etc. I think the first one demonstrates the sound better than the second one, but it was something I wanted to try to see if I could come up with any further ideas.
Then I did this piece which I LOVE. I think I really would like to animate this in terms of each geometric shape growing and then another growing on top of each other so that they form this ball of triangles/geometric shapes. I really like the outcome of this and I hope if I animated it, it would come through well enough.
