Sound 023 Animation

Taking these experiments I did as an influence to my animation:

I ended up with animating this:

Personally, I found this the most complex sound to animation, due to how fast the 'bubble' noises popped. They were really close together so it took me SO many tries to get to the final piece. Although I did make a timeline to measure the pace of the sound:

(The frames that are closer together mirror the quicker the bubbles pop.)

I chose to work with a cool tone palette because I felt like that it what the sound represented. I also wanted to do bubbles because I thought this was the best aesthetic our of my experimental pieces.

Now in terms of how I actually made this animation is really complex. I started off with making my 3D sphere's and choosing what colour would go next to each other sphere, eventually forming a gradient effect from blue to pink with purple in the centre. That was the easiest bit, then I had to individually animate each bubble so that they would look like they are moving sporadically, but in a natural sporadic way. I didn't want all my bubbles to be shaking in the same direction because that would look as if I wasn't willing to put all my effort in, so I individually moved them millimeters apart.

Then because I wasn't working with Photoshop's video timeline, I had to copy and paste the shaking bubbles onto new layers, as well as trying to shrink them to make them look like they popped. I also had to play around with the timing since the shrinking effect had to match the sound. I ended up being able to do this in three frames, so that it looked organised and in sync with the audio clip.

Overall even though this is my shortest piece, I really like the outcome. I love the vibrancy of the colours and the dimension of the shapes and also how in time I was able to get the bubbles to pop in time with the audio.
