Therefore because I had half my animation does it was now time to introduce the jumping plasticine.
I started off by setting my DSLR over a piece of white laminated cardboard with a tripod, and then moulding the plasticine into different shapes. I started off with these ones to see how well I could work with them and I think they turned out all right. I obviously had to colour them ...
So I did a quick test by making a gradient overlay and using the blur tool to get rid of any extreme crevasses, just to see if what I was thinking to achieve was doable. And with some extra care and editing, I think it was! I then did the same for my jumping ball of plasticine and added it to my setting...
And I ended up really liking it. I obviously have more frames that I took for the plasticine to make it as less choppy as I possibly could and I think it morphs quite fluidly. I also think the bouncy ball bounces fair enough and I did it in the exact time time to my sound track which I had picked out prior to starting my animation.
Though this is not a drastic turn from what I had ORIGINALLY planned for my E4 ident, I am enjoying it a lot more. I get to experiment with colours which excite me and also I am stepping out of my comfort zone with mediums that I have never used prior. Therefore I think learning wise, this was a good choice for me to change my ideas. As if anything, I am learning more than I would have been doing.
