E4 4) Process part 1

Since I had my setting done, it was now time to animate! My initial idea was to have the cacti grow in the desert, but for that to happen I would have to cut my cacti up and work backwards. This didn't seem like too bad of an idea.

HOWEVER. When I cut my cacti up, I completely ruined my pieces of paper! I wanted to cut them mm by mm so that I could animate it in 24 frames per second but my scissors were too big and I cut too much off and in the end ruined the whole setting!

Luckily, I had an image of my final setting with the cacti on it in HD saved on my laptop, So I thought I could potentially save my idea, by animating it in Photoshop.

I was quite happy how fluid and smooth my animation ended up coming along. It was quite hard to remember each cacti growing as well as trying to paint and edit the setting as if there were no cacti on it in the first place however I think I did an OK job. It was exactly how I envisioned it, though it took a few tries, and after ruining the original painting, I think I managed to save it. I was also able to tweak the colour balance and levels of the painting to make the colours look like they do in real life. I notices when I took the picture on my DSLR, because the paints were neon they looked a little bit funny on my camera. This also happened when I scanned them in, the colours turned to pastel ones.
