Since I practically had everything planned, I thought it would now be good to try and paint my setting. I'm not the best at painting, so I thought I would paint pieces of paper in the shades that I wanted them and then outline shapes that I wanted to cut out from there.
From my mood boards I had a pretty good idea of what colours I wanted to go for, ranging from very vibrant to very neutral. I think the colours go together quite nicely, they don't blend in too much with each other and they also don't clash awfully either. It took me a while to get these colours in real life seen as how I was mixing pink, blue and yellow neon colours to the shades researched.
I painted around 3 pieces of A3 paper, all ranging in the different colours that I chose. I then decided to cut them up into cacti and several geometric shapes so that I could add detail each cactus. For example as shown above, a base for the plant as well as a piece of decoration. I purposely wanted to geometric shapes to clash with the cacti colours, and I also love how they turned out in terms of the brush strokes still being apparent to emphasise the hand made aspect.
Once I had all the pieces put together, the end result I really liked! I feel like it has the E4 feel to it from the colours and their random location settings. I also like how it looks quite dimensional and I think one I have finished with it, it will look pretty unique and sporadic which is what E4's ident patterns seem to be.
