The interim crit session involved presenting our ideas and designs/where we were up to with our chosen brief to the class via a powerpoint. As always I was extremely anxious about this because I have never presented/pitched my ideas to anyone except a teacher prior to university. How and ever, the more I conquer them, the more I feel like I am improving and aiming to be even more ambitious.
After presenting all my ideas, the feedback I got was quite positive. I was asked about what audio I would be looking to produce, and this is something I have thought briefly about, but not to a high degree. For my Discovery Channel ident, as the small shapes flow and form into different animals/flowers, etc, I want involve some sort of swishing sound, and once the animation pauses at for example the peacock, then I would like to have some birds chirping or for the shark, have some waves crashing, whilst having the swishing sounds in between. I think this would be quite reasonable and I think I would definitely be able too achieve it, as it is not too ambitious I don't think.
As for E4, I am still undecided as to whether I would like to animate to a sound track, so the plasticine bounces to a beat, or perhaps just have sound effects for the plasticine as it hits the floor, but it is something I need to continue to consider in order to progress with this part of the brief.
Also in the session, I was advised to consider whether I am going to extensively plan out the moves for the plasticine E4 stop motion animation, or do it in a more freeform manner. I think free form would be nice, but I have already painted out on paper the moves I want my plasticine to make. However once I have started the production of it, if I feel like I want to to change something on the spot, then I am not opposed to involving some freeform animation however it all depends on how I feel at the time.
Overall I think I have enough to start my animation, I think some tests and some more research is needed, but other than that I thing I have a strong foundation for these briefs. I feel like I have really worked hard on them already as I am already very interested in the ident concept.
