The one thing I am currently finding hard with this brief is that I am juggling two tasks at once. I am not used to doing two projects at the same time and therefore, having to do research for one ident as well as another is proving to be a bit of a struggle.
Nevertheless I have still come up with a storyboard and an animatic for The Discovery Channel. These are very minimal, as they are to give me an idea of what I want to achieve and how I want my animation to pan out. I have further gone on to designing and research which have greatly improved the aesthetic that I want to go for, but I feel like these storyboards and animatic have been a great foundation for this whole project. They have allowed me to see where I could improve, and what I want to stick with.
This is a very brief storyboard, however I feel like it portrays what I want to illustrate well. I want to have a box that opens up to an explosions of dots that they form into different animals and aspects of 'The Discovery Channel'. I have noticed that this channel does not just focus on animals, therefore I want to animate other objects as well so that it appeals to a greater audience than just those who like animals.
I also want the transitions to be FLUID. Something I did not mention in my animatic. Since I will be working at 24 frames per second I think this will be a lot nicer and more helpful to achieve. I also want to work in COLOUR. When I was making my storyboard and animatic I was more or less trying to get the ideas from my head into a solid fluid sequence of images, therefore I did not use colour. At this point my mind was still thinking about the E4 ident, because I want to make it in stop motion and I am constantly thinking of ways I could improve and make it more inventive, therefore something I need to greatly improve on, is trying to be equal with the animations, so that they get an equal amount of attention.
However I made this animatic after I made my E4 one, and I am very proud of it. I think that anyone who looks at it will be able to tell what I want to achieve and that is the main purpose, therefore I am very proud of it, and how it looks.
