Applied 2 - Making a Timetable

We were recommended to make a timetable in one of our Applied seminars, and though I put it off for a little while, because my 'To Do' lists were getting quite a bit longer, I decided I needed to make a schedule so that I could prioritise and visually see what I need to do by when. I always organise my workload by making lists, but I think I now have a new appealing way of sorting out my plans as I can now see where certain deadlines are, and can associate what module I should be working on with the different colours.

Because we haven't been briefed for certain modules yet, I have mainly keyed in my Applied and Responsive important dates so that I can make relevant goals and work towards certain key stages. These are stages like crits, and submissions. And even though I may not be sure of how my work load will carry out after seeing what is in store in the next few modules, I still slotted them in the timetable so that I can get a rough idea of how much time I will have in between.

I think this will be really useful for me, as it gives me a good idea of valuing time. Usually I start to panic in the early stages of a module because I feel like I never have enough time or space left over. However now I can see in a clear view, the amount of weeks I will have left and what I need to do by each week. Hayley and I have both set goals for ourselves and each other so that we can constantly stay motivated, as well as know what needs to be met before we have to present our work.

Hayley and I have also split roles within our group so that our goals can be met on time if our work is split equally and efficiently. We have also tried to play to our strengths so that we will be able to produce work that is confident and successful. But because there are only two of us, some of these roles will overlap, which is fine because I think two hands are better than one in some areas. It will also provide us new sets of skills, for example I will learn all about stop motion from Hayley as she has more experience in it than me. For the pre-production stage, I will be taking on the character designing and the animatic, where as Hayley will be storyboarding and doing set design. We have both agreed to do research ourselves as this will provide us with more ideas and facts that we can bring together to form our script and narrative!
